Ed Sillyness |
| Just a little mess about in my first scene with this character ed. Tis also a perfect wallpaper size. |
Vacation |
| Poster / wallpaper / test / whatever. This plays an important part of my short as being the first time we see the starring characters. I wanted to symbolise the relationship of a loving father who just wants a nice photo, and a son who just makes everything difficult. |
Ed Model |
| A character created for a University piece I have to do. The module is about facial modeling and animation. Animating to a dialgoue piece for my first time. The design is based off a 'piggy bank' I found, cool Creature Comforts style. The dialogue is from Firefly. "If you take sexual advantage of her, you're going to burn in a very special level of hell. A level they reserve for child molesters, and people who talk at the theater". |
Pesky Models |
| Here are the 2 still unamed characters from my short film "Pesky". It's a father and son family. Daddy strives to be the best aprent he can be, sometimes this means not paying enough immediate attention to his son. No guess's as to what a child strving for attention can be like. The characters are simpe because I wanted them to representated purely through animation and body language, thus no mouth. |
"Bowing 01" |
| This pose was meant to simply be a bow, like in a stage theatrical production, a very extravigant, extraverted and lavish action of appreciation with grace that is not hindered by its apparant momentery un comfortableness. |
Before & After 01 |
| This is a photo restoration I did for a friend. Just thought I would show it off a bit. Photoshop was the only tool used in restoring this photo, which was over 110 years old. |
"Can't Think 01" |
| This is me trying to think of a pose to upload. He's at the end of his tether, he can't even muster the energy to hold his own head up so he uses his arm which is propped on the table. I tried to show his other hand just at rest, like he doesn't quite know where to put it. I wanted him hunched over to suggest that he has been there a long time and had progressively got lower down in his posture. |
"Martial Arts Stance 01" |
| This was a pose I wanted to try and replicate from the Shotokan Martial Arts, this is a 'shuto uke', or a 'knife hand block'. The stance is appropriate to the block, the 'back stance', or, 'kokutsu dachi' |
"On The Beach 01" |
| Another pose where I wanted to portray a character who is easy going and content. This character is enjoying the sunset on a beach, I wanted him to look very loose in himself and have not a care in the world |
"Laying Down 01 - Watching TV " |
| This was an attempt to portray a child laying on a rug watching something he / she finds pleasant. I wanted the character to look comfortable and mostly, content., and the foot in the air is to try and suggest a playfulness in the character mind set. |
"Drinking 1" |
| This is obviously someone really really enjoying a drink. I wanted to imitate the kind of pleasure coming from a beverage only seen in their own adverts. Also i wanted to make this a little unconventionally by pointing his pinky up, adding femininity to this character |
"On A Box 1" |
| Original and creative names galore, here is another pose. This guy can't even be bothered to hold up his own head so he uses his hand propped between a knee and chin. He's fed up, he has nothing to do to the point of frustration. |
"Smoking 1" |
| The first of many poses of characters to come, I started with the idea of someone waiting around, possibly bored, possibly waiting for a bus. Round here most people tend to entertain themselves with their phones or mp3 players when waiting for a bus, they also smoke, hence this pose. |
'Fire Fight' |
| One of my first major realizations in CGI, the concept is obviously not originally, however I wondered if I could convey the dynamic nature of an intense hollywood style action scene. The rain drops are simulated particles which refract there surrounds using ray tracing, the fire effect was created by an array of volumetric light sources. Thanks goes out to Shiner, who let me borrow his Beretta M9 model for this image. |
'Xmas Jack' |
| I made this as a way of being festive without actually having to be festive. It was an experiment using some new tools. The fur on the hat is actually real Maya fur and the trees in the background were generated using paint effects. The depth of field and starry night were done in post (Photoshop). |
'The Study' |
| I created the image to show Universities that I had a strong grasp of 3D concepts and techniques. It took me about a week, from concept to realization. The idea was despite practicality, this would be my ideal hibernation spot. With all the right things to train the mind and the body. I took a lot of the lighting concepts I learned from the pier and went a bit further. Special thanks to Shiner for modeling some objects for me (the sword, the car, the little stick-man. I created all the other elements in October 2004. |
'The Pier' |
| This - like most of my early work in 3D - was a learning experience. I had an idea and i wanted to know if I could bring it to life. I'm happy with this image (created July 2004). For those interested i used a combination of displacement and bump maps for the water. The scene was lit with 50% direct lighting and 50% indirect. The sky image is a HDRI light probe which is emitting light into the scene. The tree and plain are images on polygons. This was rendered with Fprime at 2560 X 1440. I created everything in this image. |
